"Democracy is the core of this nation and as we’ve seen over the past few months, it is vital that every eligible voter cast their ballot."
As we are quickly approaching the Chattanooga municipal elections, I felt it was necessary to designate a “Let’s Talk Tuesday” to voting. Democracy is the core of this nation and as we’ve seen over the past few months, it is vital that every eligible voter cast their ballot.
Sadly, city elections don’t receive as much attention, or as many votes, as national or even county elections. In the 2017 Chattanooga city elections, there were a total of 96,333 registered voters yet only 18,971 actually cast their vote. That means only 19.69% of registered voters determined the leadership of the City.
LOCAL ELECTIONS MATTER
They matter because this is where you can see change in your own backyard. You can directly impact your friends, neighbors, and community when you VOTE LOCALLY. At the local level you can review the budget, inquire about incentives for small businesses, or directly contact your representative. Local is where you see change first.
YOUR VOTE MATTERS
